Management Registration Data

The Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. As organizers of the Bernstein Conference we take responsibility for data safety and security. Therefore, we would like you to know why we collect data, which data we collect and how we use them.


In accordance with our statutory mission, we organize the Bernstein Conference to promote scientific communication and cooperation. (Statutory Mission Statement: §2, paragraph 3.1

Data Details

If you participate in the Bernstein Conference, we process the personal data with which you register:

  • Surname, first name
  • Academic status
  • E-Mail address
  • Your affiliation
  • Country

The personal data you provide will be processed exclusively in connection with your registration. The data processing serves to organize the event, like managing the registration process or issuing certificates of participation afterwards.

According to the terms and conditions of the conference grant allowance, the German Research Foundation (DFG, Kennedyallee 40, 53175 Bonn) will receive the list of participants after the event. It will contain the following information:

  • Surname, first name
  • Academic status
  • Affiliation
  • Country

Data Location

Your personal data is stored at the Indico-Server of the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact data and bookings will be processed by the team of the Bernstein Coordination Site for organizational purposes of the conference.

Data Processing

The named data is transferred to smartEvents (Hermann-Mende-Straße 4, 01099 Dresden/Germany), who handle the conference platform Hopin. It is contractually agreed that your personal data will be used exclusively in the context of the Bernstein Conference 2020. The data is transferred to create a personalized login link and guarantee a safe conference. By contract, smartEvents will delete these data after the event.

Legal Basis

The legal basis for the processing of your registration data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e, para. 3 of the European Data Protection Basic Regulation (GDPR) in conjunction with § 3 of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Your personal data will be deleted at the end of the event.

Privacy Statement Photos/ Screenshots/ Films


With the registration, the PR team of the Bernstein Network is granted permission to take photographs and film recordings during the conference and to use these internally for documentary purposes as well as for public representation of the Bernstein Conference, both analog and digital.

Legal Basis

According to Articles 6 and 7 of GDPR, your personal data (in this case pictures/ screenshots with you in them) will be processed in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). You can revoke your consent at any time. An Email to is sufficient to do so.

Data Publication

Your personal data will not be passed on to third parties. Your data may appear on the website of the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience ( as well as the network’s twitter account as stated in the Data Protection Declaration on the Bernstein Network homepage. Data will not be transferred to any agents outside the EU.

Data Storage

We process your personal data for the duration of the Bernstein Conference or the duration of the publication of the event respectively. The specified periods for storage or documentation are up to ten years. Finally, the storage period is also assessed according to the statutory limitation periods and it is regularly checked whether data can be deleted.

Data Protection Rights

You are entitled to information in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, the right to correction in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR, the right to deletion in accordance with Art. 17 GDPR, the right to restriction of processing in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR and the right to data transferability from Art. 20 GDPR.
