We want to make the online Bernstein Conference an exceptional experience for you. Here we inform you about the most important facts on how the conference will be implemented.

General information

In order to get access to the online Bernstein Conference 2020 you will need to register. By registering you confirm that you agree to our Code of Conduct. A few days prior to the event we will send access information for our platforms Hopin and GIN.

This will be the main platform, where all participants will meet for all talks, workshops, poster sessions, the exhibition and networking.
You will receive a personalized link via email. We recommend to bookmark this link!
We further encourage you to complete your profile by uploading a profile picture of you. This will make the online conference a more personal experience for everyone.
The platform is operated within a web browser, thus no downloads are required. We strongly recommend using Google Chrome.
Once you login to the online Bernstein Conferene 2020 you will find these major elements:

  • Reception: here you find general information and the event schedule
  • Stage: all talks (invited and contributed) and the debate will take place on the stage
  • Sessions: the session's segment will host the satellite workshops, the poster session and social gatherings. Please note, that only currently ongoing sessions will be on display.
  • Expo: the expo area will host the virtual booths of our exhibitiors
  • Networking + several chat options

The G-Node data infrastructure service GIN will provide the repository for the Gallery for Posters and Talks. There you will find all posters, and recorded talks and workshops of this year’s Bernstein Conference. It will be accessible from Monday, Sep 28 until Friday, Oct 2.
You will need to create your individual login, in order to access the poster gallery. Please use the same email address which you used for the registration, preferably an institutional email address.


Interaction with other participants

The Hopin platform provides multiple chat modes:

  • live global event chat: everybody is messaging everybody
  • session chats: each session has its own group chat
  • direct messaging: private messages and video chats can be set up between participants

Participants will have the option to create individual sessions for group discussion and socializing.

The networking tool randomly connects participants in one-on-one video chats.
