  • Boehringer Ingelheim FENS Research Award 2022
    This award is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim and is announced by the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies. The award is given in recognition of outstanding and innovative scientific work from all areas of neuroscience research. The personal prize amounts to 25,000 EUR.

  • Helmholtz Young Investigator Groups - Call 2021
    The Helmholtz Young Investigator Groups offer early scientific independence to international top talents. The funding generally amounts to at least € 300,000 p.a. for five years with an option of a permanent position in case of a positive evaluation.

  • Eric Kandel Prize
    The Eric Kandel Young Neuroscientists Prize, named after American neuroscientist and Nobel laureate Prof. Eric Kandel, was established in 2009 in order to recognise the work of outstanding young scientists in any field of neuroscience and to help advance their careers as researchers. The prize is awarded every two years by the Hertie Foundation in conjunction with FENS since 2010, being under the patronage of the German Minister for Education and Research, Anja Karliczek.

  • Valentin Braitenberg Award 20/21
    The Valentin Braitenberg Award is presented biennially by the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience to honor outstanding scientific achievements in the field of computational neuroscience. Following the scientific tradition of Valentin Braitenberg, special attention is given to theoretical studies that reveal the functional significance of brain structures and their neural network dynamics.

  • FLAG-ERA Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2021
    The FLAG-ERA Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2021 supports research projects in synergy with the two FET Flagships, the Graphene Flagship and the Human Brain Project. It is designed to expand the current Flagships with new research contributing to the Flagship objectives in selected areas. New researchers and researchers already in the Flagships are equally eligible. Selected projects are expected to be integrated in the Flagships as Partnering Projects.

    The aim of the call is to facilitate multinational, collaborative research projects that will address important translational questions relating to the neurodevelopmental nature of neurological and mental disorders. Neurodevelopmental disorders are behavioural and cognitive disorders that arise during the developmental period that involve significant difficulties in the acquisition and execution of specific intellectual, motor, or social functions.

  • Priority Programme “META-REP: A Meta-scientific Programme to Analyse and Optimise Replicability in the Behavioural, Social, and Cognitive Sciences” (SPP 2317)
    In 2020, the Senate of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has established a new Priority Programme entitled “META-REP: A Meta-scientific Programme to Analyse and Optimise Replicability in the Behavioural, Social, and Cognitive Sciences” (SPP 2317). The programme is designed to run for six years. The present call invites proposals for the first three-year funding period (2021–2024).

  • FETPROACT-09-2020: Neuromorphic computing technologies
    Proposals will target new computational substrates and engines, based on new materials and engineering principles for efficient and low-power neuromorphic computing; together with new theories, architectures and algorithms for neuromorphic computation (classification, control,…), learning (including unsupervised, incremental, single-shot and/or event-based) and adaptation/plasticity for and in such new neuromorphic hardware.
