With the Brains for Brains Award, the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience honors young scientists who pursue a career in computational neuroscience and whose publication portfolio reveals outstanding merit at a very early stage of their careers.

The award is endowed with € 2000 and enables young scientists to visit the Bernstein Conference as well as exclusive laboratories in the field of computational neuroscience in Germany.

Tuan Pham is the ninth recipient of this award in the line of outstanding young scientists from all over the world, many of whom now run their own laboratories. During his undergraduate studies, Pham was simulating small networks of neurons to study electrical synapses. In his doctoral research, he seeks to combine computational approaches and experiments to investigate the computational properties of networks of biophysical neurons.

"I am very honored to receive the award. This will give me the opportunity to interact with researchers in the field, at both the conference and the lab visits, and get to know more about the current perspectives and approaches." This, Pham says, will be of tremendous help for the development of his PhD thesis. Tuan Pham will visit the lab of Prof. Dr. Kempter in Berlin. After the Confernce, he will meet researchers from the groups of Prof. Dr. Andreas Herz, Prof. Dr. Laura Busse and Prof. Dr. Christian Leibold at the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience BCCN Munich.

The "Brains for Brains" Award in Computational Neuroscience will be presented on September 20, 2019 at the international Bernstein Conference in Berlin.
