The Bernstein SmartSteps

The Bernstein SmartSteps series provides a unique platform for selected Early Career Scientists of the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience to present their research projects to the scientific community. Once a month, starting in April 2021, one PhD candidate and one Postdoc who are ready to take their next (smart) step for their scientific career will discuss their research in an online seminar.

Join the Bernstein SmartSteps Series as an audience if you are interested in cutting-edge computational neuroscience and want to watch out for new talents in the field. The live talks will be held in Zoom. A recording will be published in a separate collection on the Bernstein Vimeo Channel.

The Bernstein SmartSteps Award 2021

A committee of senior scientists will select the best speaker of the ongoing series for the Bernstein SmartSteps Award: it consists of a professional individual career coaching by SCIEDO at the value of 1500 EUR. Together with the coach, the awardee will decide whether to focus on the preparation of a personal grant, an upcoming job application or another career relevant topic.
The awardee will also be featured in the Bernstein Network’s media channels.

  • are a member of the Bernstein Network or have been suggested by their PI who is a Bernstein Network member

  • for talk slots in spring (April, May, June): March 18, 2021
  • for talk slots in fall (October, November, December): tbd, applications/ nominations can already be submitted
